This is an update to my original review. The first one had a few issues of which are in the original review at the bottom of this one. I was sent a replacement that works! It does exactly what I needed, data transfer with USB C support, nothing else. No there is no video capability, but there are so many hubs and docking stations out there that do have that capability it became a problem in my configuration. I have more video connections than I could ever use, but was left high and dry on USB C. I also use a wheel device and external keypad in my workflow that wouldn’t work with another product I tried. It works with this just fine. It also is the first part of a chain linking two other hubs together with the first product I tried at the end of that chain. The price…it solved a problem with it being the only solution I could find and is one of the less costly parts of my entire setup as well leaving me more room for expansion. I would call that a bargain.This was exactly what I needed, did exactly what I needed it to do for one whole day. The second day is when things went whacky. I couldn’t access any of the connected drives which at that moment there were three. So, I shut everything down and just tried unplugging everything and then plugging it back in. Start the computer back up and nothing. Once again, I shut everything down and swapped cords around this time starting in the ports I hadn’t used. What were in the new ports worked, the one drive that was in one of the others didn’t work. What’s kind of odd is the third problem port. sometimes will work if I plug something in while with everything on, but it’s not seen on a reboot. It’s built well and is really the best solution I have found for my setup. I gave it 3 stars when as it is now, doesn’t deserve any, but they are sending me a replacement. A fully working version of this, that works longer than one day and hopefully for a long period of time is definitely a 5 star buy. Hoping this was just a fluke. Once I get the replacement and if it performs as it should I will update this review to where it should be. If not, I will downgrade it to also where it should be.

Great value, good build, works great as a charging dock for USB (non thunderbolt) devices
Great value for type usb c ports used as classic usb 3 at a great price. Also works great as a dock when supplying power to it to end up as a one cable system.If you need to connect a monitors or other higher-end devices, then the thunderbolt plugable or Satechi dock that comes with a power adapter is probably a good option but for things that self power like printers or plug-in, external hard drives or devices that are low power like mice or keyboards or even 2.5 gigabit ethernet adapters.This is the best on the market from a major brand and I really like the price. Also, it’s really solid metal one small improvement might be having a detachable cable, but I tend to baby my devices and if this did break, it would not be that expensive to get another one.

Useful and compact.
Works as advertised. Allows rapid data transmission through multiple USB-C ports while attached to one port on y M1 chipped MacBook Pro. Also provides a good charging port for other devices such as an Apple Mouse, camera, etc.

Works well. I feel like it can be awkward when you have an under desk desktop. I have a Mac Mini and it just kind of hangs there. But with some Zip Ties and a little imagination, it worked. The price is great and I noticed no difference in performance

Trashy data transfer speeds
Trashy data transfer. How can I be confident saying that? Because I already have a hub for hooking up external drives…this hub takes about 20x LONGER to read my external drive than the other hub. In fact, I hooked up this hub to the other hub and tested data going through this hub and bypassing it – it’s terrible bad. Maybe they mislabeled it or something. But the moment I put this in serial with other components that transfer data quickly, data read speeds are trash. Maybe I’m doing something wrong…could be…but I’m doing standard, normal hookups and this thing is a complete joke.

Unreliable usb c plug
Works as advertised but not a strong connection. Pass through power delivery works, but the USB c port that plugs into the host device is very loose, so it will randomly disconnect, making it unreliable.

I got this for use with my iPhone, I wanted to be able to charge and have an SSD and an external mic, it allows me to do that fine. I have 3D printed a clip that holds it on the side ( or when filming bottom ) of my phone – it feels like a nice metal construction and I’ve had no issue speed wise. The design is quite slim and low profile, but it is quite long ( not longer than the Pro Max so that’s no issue for me ). The cable is long enough that it connects nicely to the usb-c in the bottom of the phone without putting a kink in the cable or pressure on the ports/plugs so that’s good. The charging works as expected, I haven’t exhaustively connected everything you could imagine to it, but everything I have done, has worked and at the speeds I had hoped for and expected. All round, I think its a fair price of a fair product.

This hub suffers from inconsistent power delivery, audible coil whine, and generally erratic behavior.Scenario 1: Power drop-off when host is powered downInitially, I had my phone connected to a USB port and a 65W charger connected to the PD port; the phone charged correctly. When I connected the laptop via the host port, the phone continued to charge. However, once the laptop was shut down, the hub stopped delivering sufficient power to the phone, causing the phone to draw from its own battery instead.Scenario 2: Coil whine and charging failureWhen the hub is connected to the laptop via the host port, the hub emits a loud, audible coil whine. Interestingly, connecting a phone to the hub stops the whine, but the phone does not receive any charge. Furthermore, connecting a 65W charger to the PD port while in this state has no effect, nothing happens.
