What is Ion Exchange Resin

This is one of the most used process to reduce water hardness, what they don’t tell you is that in the process they remove magnesium (this is good for your body) and they add sodium to the water (which is very bad for your body)

This method is mostly preferred by big corporations because is easy and cheap

How does it work?

The resin is made of a polymer that binds positively charged ions. The polymer is designed to bind to calcium and magnesium more strongly than to sodium.

When hard water flows past this resin, the calcium and magnesium ions in your water will bind to the polymer, releasing the sodium into the water. The water flowing out is then softer but contains more sodium instead.
