Impressive Smart TV At A Great Price Point
I purchased two Panasonic smart tv models: 43” & 50.”This is a first for this brand as far as a smart tv is concerned. I have been pleasantly surprised with the picture and sound quality, the ease of switching to my wireless cable connection and back to Fire TV with Alexa. Screen mirroring and an internet app on screen. The number of apps are impressive and the overall sturdiness of the chassis (including metal stands) are just some of the standouts concerning the quality of this smart tv at a great price point…and setup was very straightforward and function has been perfect so far. Very happy with the purchase.

Use Samsung code 10054 for Directv remote.
Time for a new update: Every time you turn the set on you have to scroll through to the input menu and reselect your input, HDMI, tuner, streaming etc. This means you need two remotes to start it up. I decided to “ask Rufus” about this, and it hemmed around the issue saying you can set a user profile and that remembers your settings? Really? Then you have to select your profile!!!This means it takes like 15 seconds every blessed time you want to turn the TV on, depending upon which streaming it tries to sign you up for and then you wait for your selection to engage. Somethng that irritates you every day is simply not a wise purchase. I have gone from 5 stars to one over this single issue.Time for an update. After living with this TV for a few months, I find it quite annoying in one aspect. On startup, you have to cycle through menus to get to the input screen. It would have been simple for them to program it to default to that last input OR give you a choice to select a default input. Instead, it defaults to streaming services. This is a waste of time, and requires the remote or standing at the TV. They seem to have changed the programing to streaming which makes it even worse. No longer recommended.I am going to tentatively give this unit 5 stars. The picture is fine, and was not hard to set up. HOWEVER, none of the Panasonic codes on my Directv remote work to program the remote for this unit. Use: 10054 instead. This may provide a hint as to who actually designed the new Panasonic offerings.UPDATE: I am going to ding them one star. This is for two related reasons: 1. The default Input is WIFI streaming, not your last input (upon switching off). This means EVERY TIME you turn on the set you have to stop, take the remote and cycle through the menu to get to “Input selection” then select your input (HDMI in my case). I thought this might have been corrected by a software update, but was not. And 2: while most functions work on my Directv (universal) remote, the input select does not. (See my comment above regarding using Samsung codes. I tried ALL the Samsung codes and 10054 is the best-NONE of the Panasonic/Technics codes work at all). You might be okay with Wifi streaming as your default, but even then, you have to stop and select which service every time.

    Good for the price
The features of the TV is all there from the beginning and it a little faster than our 7 year TV so it’s doing its job for the value and better color and sound quality.

Kinda slow for a smart TV. Limited because it’s locked into Amazon Fire software
This TV is good, but somewhat limited. It’s an Amazon fire TV- so it’s not a Roku- or a Sony… It’s basically a TV amazon put together on a project with Panasonic. I’ve owned multiple Panasonic over the years. So I had good faith. It is pretty slow, the processor making the TV smart is not awesome. If you are looking for razor thin, nope. Somewhat bulky in the back. Bland. Ordinary… blah… The TV kinda sucks in the world of TVs right now. But it’s what I could afford to hook my Nintendo up to- the write-up said the graphics are good And They Are.. Solid image. Just kinda slow jumping from program to program. And if you are changing apps all together- Forget about it. Slow TV that gets the job done. Value for money? After you buy this, a Pawn shop may offer $20 max…. So that’s the street value of this boob tube.

Defective from the Start — Second Unit Also Failed Completely
I purchased this TV in April 2025, mainly for its built-in Fire TV functionality. Unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing from the very beginning. The first unit I received didn’t turn on at all — the screen stayed completely black. I contacted Panasonic support, and although they responded within about 24 hours, their suggestions were limited to very basic troubleshooting (like holding the power button or unplugging the device). In the end, they simply advised me to contact the retailer for an exchange. After replacing it, the second unit at least powered on, but the Fire TV system was extremely slow from the start. The initial update took more than 30 minutes, and a message appeared saying my internet was unusually slow — despite having high-speed Fios service and no issues with other devices. Streaming apps like YouTube and Netflix frequently buffer, freeze, or fail to load, even at low resolutions.Restarting or unplugging the TV temporarily helps, but the problem returns after a few hours. It seems to be a persistent performance issue, possibly due to insufficient memory or a system-level bug in the Fire TV OS.While the panel itself looks good, I cannot recommend this TV for anyone planning to rely on the built-in Fire TV. You may need to add an external streaming device (like a Fire Stick), which defeats the purpose of buying a Fire TV-equipped model in the first place.I hope this review helps others make an informed decision.[Update as of November 1, 2025]After a few months of use, this TV has become completely non-functional.First, the TV started turning itself on randomly, even after being powered off.It would automatically scroll through the channel guide without any user input. Then, the power button on the remote stopped working entirely, although pressing shortcut buttons like “Netflix” or “Prime Video” would still power the TV on.However, any attempt to navigate (e.g., using the Home button or switching apps) now causes the TV to crash and shut off immediately.I performed a full factory reset, unplugged the TV for hours, and even re-paired the remote — nothing worked. This is especially frustrating because this is already my second unit. The first one was completely defective out of the box (black screen), and this replacement has now also failed.Panasonic’s support website doesn’t even recognize the model number when submitting a warranty request. While I have contacted them and provided proof of purchase, the lack of product registration options and their earlier dismissive response raise serious concerns. At this point, I cannot recommend this TV under any circumstances, especially for anyone planning to rely on the built-in Fire TV. The reliability and software support are simply unacceptable.
