Grimy Cracks & Crevices Be Gone!
I’ve wanted one of these for a while but was never sure if it would be something I’d really use or not. But I am deep cleaning a house that I’m sprucing up and figured now is the time to try one out. So far I really like it, but it’s not something I’d use as an everyday cleaning item. I’ve found it’s best for a niche area of cleaning, which is: grime in cracks and crevices!A few examples: I first tested it on the outside of the oven door, which was pretty gross. It cleaned it beautifully and even got in the seam around the oven handle that I couldn’t even get with a toothpick. Just blew the stuff right out of it and now it looks brand new.Another example: the toilet seat! It got in and around the hinges of the toilet seat lid, making that look new as well. It also worked great around the base of the toilet where the bolts mount it to the floor.Another example: I have side-sliding windows and it blew the debris out of the track of the window nicely.The common thread with all of these things are that there’s no elbow grease required. These are all things I would have scrubbed before, tiring my arm and using a lot of energy on. I did ZERO scrubbing on these surfaces and used no cleaners.Another use I love: Wrinkled clothes! Maybe it’s just me but I honestly didn’t think about using this type of steamer on clothes. I know there’s clothes steamers made for this purpose, but just for fun I tried this and it’s amazing! Steamed away all the wrinkles with a very minimal amount of effort. I don’t iron, so I was using my clothes dryer for wrinkles and I’s say this is even better; more effective and faster.A few caveats and observations: I don’t know why it says it has a 350ml capacity but then the instructions say not to add more than 280ml, which is the size of the cup, so that’s something to be aware of. I timed it on three different uses and get 7-8 minutes of use each time. It’s no biggie though, you just let it cool for a couple minutes and then you can refill it and keep working. It takes about 3 minutes to heat up.Personally, I don’t find the attachments that useful so far. But that’s because they really aren’t needed! The cone nozzle alone works on everything, I don’t need to scrub with the little brush heads because I don’t need to scrub at all, I just hold the spray on tough spots a little longer until it’s gone. I tried the squeegee on my shower wall and it didn’t do much at all, but then, neither did the cone head. I don’t find the steamer especially beneficial for large, flat surfaces like shower walls, the stovetop, counters, windows etc. Maybe it’s just my own preference, but I find it much more useful on all the areas I could never reach before, cracks, crevices, seams, window tracks, etc.All in all, I love this steamer for my purposes. If I only ever use it for grimy cracks and wrinkled clothes, I’ll be perfectly happy! It’s solid and well made with brass fittings. Oh, and the cord is a fairy generous length too, which is important!
