Some features are difficult to use.
I chose this contactless thermometer from AIMEMD to add to the first aid items I have in the guest area of my home. My nieces, brother and sister-in-law visit frequently and as they add more and more young ones to their family, I find we need a few extra items in the guest bath and the bedrooms rooms “just in case” someone is ill during the night – when they wouldn’t want to wake me up to use the one in my bathroom. As a parent or caregiver, knowing if one of the girls is running a fever – is a great help to everyone. The thermometer is easy to use and fast. Testing it against another thermometer, I found it read the same or similar in temperature. When the batteries are not installed, the thermometer feels light weight – like there is almost nothing inside. It has settings for different ages since there are different temperatures that are considered safe or dangerous depending on a child’s age. This feature functions well. The light color is easy to find although a bright color or case would be even better for me. I loose things that are plain or common colors. It requires AA batteries- common and easy to source but not provided with the thermometer. I had hoped that this would be USBc rechargeable. This thermometer saves the last 32 readings. It is not simple to get into these menus. I had hoped the prior temp would be quick and easy to locate. I use this to assist me in tracking the body temperature vs medication dosage and longevity. It helps me check to determine what medications are effective based on the family member and their illness.

Great, accurate thermometer. Simple to use and, conveniently, uses standard batteries!
With a new baby in the house, I knew it was time to get a new thermometer, the old “swipe across” still worked but after trying this one, I’m glad I made the decision. The process is quick and contactless, allowing for an accurate reading (I checked against two other thermometers) without waking up the “patient”. And, with a new baby, we know that sleep is NOT to be interrupted! The size and weight are good and feel comfortable and well built. I was actually happy to see that it uses traditional batteries rather than being yet another corded device that I won’t realize is dead until I need it and then have to charge it for an hour or two. To me, swapping batteries is much more efficient for “emergency-type” devices. It is simple to use, just point and squeeze. The buttons on the side are easy to figure out but probably won’t be much needed. I feel the price is extremely fair in relation to other similar units and it is CERTAINLY an amount I would gladly pay rather than waking up a sleeping baby!

Works well for body temperatures, but in Object mode, it wasn’t reading any temps below 90 degrees
I found this thermometer works well when set in Body mode. It reads the temperature quickly and appears to be accurate. But, when set in Home/Object mode, any temperature that is below about 90 degrees, it only shows “Lo” on the display and the background is hi-lighted in red. If the temperature is above 90 degrees it shows the temperature and the background is in green. It’s almost like it thinks it’s in Body mode instead. So, it’s basically useless in Home mode, in my opinion. I included an image of the display in Home/Object mode that shows that it’s reading as “Lo” even though the surface read should be about room temperature. The thermometer has 3 buttons: one for Body or Object mode, one for celsius or degrees and a memory button for past readings. It requires 2 AAA batteries that are not included. The device is very lightweight. The build quality seems okay for the purpose. The display is easy to read. And, in Body mode, it appears to display the background color appropriately between green, yellow and red based on the body temperature. However, the memory button use is not intuitive at all.Overall, I think this item works well for body temperature readings. But, it failed miserably for Home/Object mode readings. So, I can only give the product three stars, since the Amazon listing states this is a 2 in 1 thermometer.

Super-fast readings, fairly accurate though maybe just a shade low on temps
I tested this side-by-side with my in-the-mouth thermometer from a drug store and the results were fairly close, with this infrared one being just a few tenths low. But it has a number of advantages, starting with the fact that it uses standard AA batteries instead of a watch-style disc battery, which means you can use rechargeables. It’s also super-fast, which is great if you’ve got a cranky child who doesn’t want to hold a dang thermometer in their mouth for 30 seconds. … It’s easy to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit, but to dig into other features like the memory function (called “memories” on the thermometer) or the non-human measurements requires diving into a thick manual that’s written in broken English. But those aren’t features I’ll need often, so no biggie in this household.

For this price, it is a great thermometer…within 0.2 degrees on all of my tests.
I compared this to a name-brand much more expensive thermometer and it was accurate to within it’s own stated specs in every single instance (I tested multiple people and multiple areas of the body to get an accurate sense of the temperature. It’s stated specs are that it will be within .2 degrees of the temp…and in every case it was within .2 degrees of my known good and expensive thermometer….so for this price…its great!

A Must-Have for City Parents with Little Ones
We picked up this AIMEMD forehead thermometer primarily for our toddler, and it’s been a game-changer for quick checks, especially when he’s sleeping or restless. The touchless design is super convenient, and the LED display with the color fever alarm makes it easy to read at a glance. It feels reasonably well-built for a plastic device, not flimsy at all, and the dual forehead/object mode adds a lot of practical value for things like bottle temps. For the price, it’s a solid investment for peace of mind, particularly with daycare germs floating around. My only minor gripe is that the backlight on the LED display is quite bright, which is great for visibility but can be a bit jarring if you’re trying to be stealthy at 3 AM without fully waking a sleeping child.
