Almost perfect but
I want to love it but what is wrong with the snooze 😭 You hit snooze, light goes off, then blares on at full power with the next alarm. I wanted a sunrise clock not a flashbang.Pros:- Love the knob, it makes snoozing and changing settings easy- It looks really nice, off or on- Phone free!- Fun ambient colors- You can play sounds indefinitely, no need to set a timer- 29 sound options, and 6 alarm noises- It retains the time and alarm settings if power briefly goes out. Another review says it doesn’t, that is false.- Good size for a nightstandCons:- The snooze is a deal breaker for me- The sunrise fade in is all one color, not red to yellow- Not the best speaker quality but not terrible, I’d say it’s price appropriateIf you’re not a snoozer it’s a great clock. If you are, I wouldn’t recommend it.

Excellent sunrise-style alarm clock and sound machine, packed with extra features.
I’d been intrigued about sunrise alarm clocks ever since I first heard about them several years ago. So naturally I had to order this when it came across my recommended items. The Dreamegg Sunrise 2 was reviewed well on other sites even before I ordered it, and I’m not surprised in the slightest.The Dreamegg is not a tiny alarm clock. The surface you see most often, widthwise, is about the size of an appetizer plate you might get at a restaurant. All of the control buttons are placed along the perimeter, with the prominent main button for the alarm (snooze/shutoff) and sound machine (on/off, sound selection) button at the very top. There are also roller wheels for the sound volume and light brightness among the control buttons. The color of the Dreamegg is pretty nice; it’s a very light, neutral cream color that is sure to blend in with the majority of decor styles.The Dreamegg runs on electrical power, using the provided USB to USB-C cord (about 3 feet long) and wall block, though it does have a battery in it; the battery is mostly to provide some backup power mostly to save your settings. I don’t believe the alarm or sunrise features will work without electrical power.The sunrise aspect of the alarm, the whole reason I wanted this, works very well. The ‘sunrise’ light is still, at its brightest, a fairly orange-yellow looking glow, like early sunrise; it doesn’t ever reach full daylight brightness, but will light up even a very dark room. I do quite like that you can set the length of the sunrise from as much as 30 minutes before the alarm to having it brighten when the alarm goes off. The lighting helped me to not feel groggy at all upon waking, so I’m very happy with that.The sound machine aspect is quite nice as well. There are close to 30 different available sounds, from typical choices like ocean waves, rain/thunderstorms, crickets, and birdsong, to white noises like TV static. You can control the volume both for sound machine use as well as for alarm use, and they will stay separate; you can also set a timer for the sound machine, so it won’t run all night once you’ve fallen asleep. There’s even a Favorite mode, in which you can set your favorite sound and use the provided Favorite button to quickly turn on your favorite without having to scroll through the different sound options.The important thing to note here is that the same sounds available for use with the sound machine are the same sounds used for the alarm; there is even at least one ‘typical’ alarm sounds to choose from. No need for a secondary device.The Dreamegg also provides an ambient lighting feature. You can use the provided light button to turn this on/off, again controlling the brightness with the provided roller, and you can even choose from several different colors for this function to suit how you prefer the room to look.In addition, you can also choose the brightness of the display (clock, alarm and sound indicator lights). There is an extremely bright setting, perfect for areas which are bright in the daytime, as well as an extremely dim setting, for visibility at night without interfering with your sleep; or, you can have the clock not display at all. If there is an adjustable brightness feature, I haven’t found it yet.I am a deep sleeper and am still working on finding the alarm sound and volume that will wake me. I am still using the alarm on my phone as a backup. The important thing is when my alarm does wake me, I’m not groggy at all, so I’m pretty happy with this so far. The sound machine and ambient lighting will definitely get some use, too.Long story short, if your main goal with a sunrise-style alarm clock is to be able to feel more naturally awake when it’s time to get up, this is absolutely it for you. It works very well for this purpose, and the extra features built in are really nice touches.

The clock face brightness defeats the purpose – returning
It’s attractive, fairly easy to set up, and the lights and sounds themselves are lovely. Unfortunately, there are some significant usability issues. You can only set one alarm, and it has to be manually changed or disabled for weekends, which would have been manageable if that were the only drawback.The bigger problem is that when the sunrise light starts, the clock face immediately jumps to full brightness, regardless of how dim it was before or how low the sunrise light intensity is set. It’s a bright white light that stays at full brightness even while snoozing, until the alarm is turned off completely. I looked for a way to adjust this but couldn’t find one.I ended up disabling the gradual sunrise feature entirely and setting the light to come on only with the alarm, but even then the clock face was so bright that I had to physically turn the clock away. That kind of defeats the purpose of a sunrise clock. I bought this as a more affordable alternative to higher-end models, but ultimately it didn’t work for me and I’ll be returning it.
