Catastrophic Hinge Failure and Camera Death After Minimal Careful Use
I purchased these Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses for their prescription compatibility, and they worked perfectly when I first received them camera and all features were excellent. Since I rely on prescription lenses, I stored the glasses in their case and didn’t use them for almost a month, awaiting my new prescription glasses to arrive.As someone who’s worn prescription glasses for over 30 years, I know exactly how to handle frames and take great care to avoid any damage. But when I finally went to use the Meta glasses with my new prescription lenses, the hinge frame came apart instantly just from gently taking them out of their case. The attached photo makes it obvious: there’s no glue or adhesive visible at the break point—this is clearly a manufacturing defect.This isn’t an isolated case, after searching online, I found many other owners reporting the same issue, often right after switching lenses or minimal use. What’s worse, once the hinge failed, the camera stopped working entirely (“Camera unavailable, try again later”). I’ve barely used them, yet the core features are now dead on a very expensive product.For the price paid, these should be much more durable and reliable. I expected superior quality but found the worst construction I’ve ever seen in decades of wearing frames. I would not recommend these Meta Ray-Bans to anyone looking for longevity or reliability, especially those needing prescription lenses.

Wearable technology is what they call it, but I call them aa game changer. Wow. Clear 4K pics and videos this is amazing. They are worth it and more. Instead of having to hold my phone up and record like the “ole days”…haha, I just say, ” Hey Meta, record!” and just like that. The phone and sound quality are amazing as well.

Ok! So these glasses are great… sort of. I dj a ton, so I am always needing content. They give me content, but not the best. In the light, these glasses are great! Record super clear. In the dark, it gets pretty grainy. Did I talk about the battery life? SUCKS! It does not last the entire night.Comfort: 6/10. I dont like wearing glasses but it worksEase of use: 5/10. These work much better than anticipated. Ordered these solely for quick pics and videos. Wish I would have purchased them much sooner. Added bonus getting notifications of messages, listening to music, podcasts, or Zoom meetings through the glasses. A game changer when not wanting to hold your cell all the time.
