Great Synology Surveillance Station Wifi Floodlight Camera
So I have purchased several floodlight cameras. I tried the Amcrest Floodlight camera and it has been nothing but problematic. Flashing, bad wifi, horrible hookup, lights flickering, it stops streaming. I purchased the Reolink Wifi Floodlight cameras which are awesome but they aren’t AC powered its DC and I don’t have an outlet where I want to place the cameras. These cameras were sort of a last ditch effort to find a good quality camera that is AC powered, and works with a Synology Surveillance Station setup. These have been running for about a month with no disconnects, the software is somewhat easy to use. Even though if you change the camera ip after adding it to the app you have to do it all over again which is a pain in the ass. So set it statically before you add it if you can. The light is super bright and it worked great for my setup. I can’t say much about the longevity but I live in the north east with cold winters and hot summers so we will see. So far I am very happy with it.UPDATE: I have two of these cameras outside and they are still working flawlessly after 3 months of constant recording to my synology. No issues, no problems. These are great cameras so far. There is no device driver on synology for this yet so you just have to use ONVIF which worked fine for me.

Functions well, have had zero issues
I love this light and camera. The camera has a very wide view and clear picture. The motion detecting light has many settings so you can get the exact lighting you need. I have mine go on slowly when it senses movement so it doesn’t blind people by going on suddenly. You can change the brightness as well. The app is very easy to use. It was to set up with my wi fi and connect to the app. It looks good on my garage. Video storage is very good. I think it was worth the money, very good quality all around. I can’t speak for the installation ease because I hired someone to install it.

    Best medium end security
I love the software of TAPO. It is super great and easy to setup. The quality is super crisp and I find myself loving it for the money I spent on it. The quality to price is probably the best out of all of the security cams I have found. It has a wide angle so I do not need to adjust too much. Motion detection is pretty decent as well. Definitely should spend a day to explore settings.

Watch for water ingress around mounting plate
Bought this about 6 months ago and am leaving a review with my findings. This is installed above my garage, on the front of my house, in a location where a previous non-smart spotlight was. Installation was straightforward and I had no issues. However, I did notice that there was a risk of water ingress between the mounting plate and the wall, which I thought was probably fine as I thought perhaps the pressure from the install would be sufficient. This worked great through the spring and summer months. In terms of Alexa integration, AI detection, and value, its definitely checking all the boxes with no recurring fees. However, I noticed intermittent issues every couple of days in the Fall when the camera would just shut off completely and would require a circuit breaker reset to turn back on, which was extremely disruptive. After some googling and experimenting, it turns out that the camera would shut itself off completely after the floodlights went on and off. I was able to reliably reproduce this after a rainy day, and the problem went away after two days of dryness.I suspect water introduced causes a short circuit, and used some exterior sealant around the mounted camera. After the past two weeks of rain (including a rainstorm), I do not see any issues, so I think this was it.Keep in my that TAPO support will charge you to ship the camera back to them for a return/exchange, which is why I did all the troubleshooting myself. The instructions need to call out the risk of water ingress and how to troubleshoot this. Otherwise, good so far for 6 months, lets hope it holds out.

A great security light with fantastic AI detection and functionality without a subscription.
I purchased this security light for my driveway after purchasing and loving the TAPO doorbell. I’ve had it installed for a few months now and feel that its another great addition to my smart home. It shares all of the great features of the doorbell and captures all the animals that walk past my house. The camera provides nice high definition videos that are easy to access via the application. Audio is crisp and understandable. Night vision is terrific and allows me to clearly see what’s happening in the middle of the night. The floodlight is nice and bright and easily adjustable to illuminate exactly where I wanted it to. I appreciate the ability to adjust the floodlight and camera sensitivity separately. The application is excellent and allows me to easily review events, zoom in or slow down videos, and download videos or save pictures to my phone. There is a slew of settings like reducing max brightness of the light or drawing detection zones to redue false positives. Two of the main reasons I purchased the tapo camera are as follows.1. It proides great AI detectopm that allows me to set specific areas for vehicle/movement/pet/person detection and its fairly accurate and quick.2. It offers a lot of functionality without requiring their additional subscription. This was huge for me as other brands severly limit what can be done without having to pay a monthly fee.As a quick note make sure to get a “high endurance” micro SD card for this, or any other camera device, as normal cheap cards can’t handle the frequent write cycles for cameras like this.My only minor quibbles with the unit are that the included mount doesn’t align a tight seal with a standard round juntion box. While I don’t expect this to be an issue since the camera housing is separate from the mounting bracket I was still concerned enough to use an additional small gasket. The only other thing is that night videos always begin with an adible “click” as the floodlight turns on…. Definitely not a big deal but worth mentioning.Overall I’d definitely recommend this camera to a friend and think it offers a ton of value.

We bought this security floodlight camera at the suggestion of ChatGPT… not crazy expensive and works like a charm… was interesting to see the guy who we requested to install it, when we opened the box and the instructions were in English… being that he was a professional, he got through it with no real issues… and with ChatGPT’s assistance, I was able to kind of help with some *gray areas LOL would definitely recommend it to friends (already have)…

    good product

so far without a hitch. would order again

All good but one issue. The electrical box in my outside wall did not permit the brace to be mounted horizontally. The electrician that installed the electrical box 23 years ago placed it so the only 2 screw holes for the brace were corner to corner. So… No easy way to adjust. I had to customize a brace and then mount the bracket. If your electrical box screws are Horizontal – simple process. If not, get creative. And, online documents or support had nothing on the problem. As a security camera with 512Gb micro SD – it’s pretty good but false detects some tall and narrow evergreens as a person when wind blows. The LED lights are awesome. I have a big backyard and only run them at 50%. It’s good… If it was $50 less I would be happier.
