How does the plethysmograph work?
Each wave (see image) corresponds to a heartbeat and the wave amplitude corresponds to the amount of blood detected. If the wave amplitude is low, this means that your blood perfusion is too low for a reliable read. You should retake your measurement and make sure that your finger is positioned right under the LED lights.

Can I check my readings while I am exercising?
Any movement can cause the device to reset its readings. If you are in the middle of exercising, we advise to take readings during resting phases while the body is not mobile. If you have finished, wait 10-15 minutes before taking a reading.
What is the SpO2 and pulse rate range the pulse oximeter can register?
The digital pulse oximeter is able to measure SpO2 between 70% and100%, and pulse rate between 30 and 250 beats per minute (bpm).
Can the 500E-B Pulse Oximeter be used on children?
Yes. However we recommend our children pulse oximeter instead – specifically designed for smaller fingers. The larger finger chamber of the 500E-B may be too big for children with small fingers, affecting its accuracy.
How do I know the battery is low?
The battery icon will display the low power indicator. Please replace the batteries.
Why does the reading fluctuate and why is the reading different on different fingers?
It is normal and natural for your SpO2 and pulse rate to fluctuate as the amount of arterial blood pulses and changes with each heartbeat. A ±3 fluctuation in your SpO2 is considered normal.

Perfect Oximeter
This unit is extremely well-built, comes with a case and protective cover, and lanyard. It synced instantly with my iPhone, so that bit integrates smoothly with Apple Health. There is no indication in the instructions about where to download the App that is required for phone integration. Once found, and opened, the results are immediately recognized by Apple Health. My doctor recommended that I have one. This is perfect for my needs and setup was fast and smooth.

Arrived on time in perfect condition. Had excellent feedback comments. I was a little wary as it was under $12. bucks to my door. I recently took this to my pulmonary walking test and compared numbers to the hospital’s state of the art device. The pulse was the same throughout the walking test. The saturation number was low, BUT consistently by 3 points…so now I know accurately what my oxygen saturation is simply by adding 3 points. If you need such a “tool”, get this one. Come with a protective woven nylon case so it’s safe to throw in my backpack. buy without hesitation.

Pulse readings seem to be accurate when checked against oximeters at the doctors office and at rehab center, oxygen readings read 4-5 points below. This is the second unit I have bought that read the same way from 2 different brands. I also purchase an inexpensive unit from another company that is accurate.

I was very pleased with the overall quality of the meter. It is well made, comes with a rubber cover for protection fro the elements and a very sturdy velcro closing nylon carry case. Also supplied is an easily fitted, strong lanyard. The instructions are easy to follow and simple, yet go further to in depth explanation of how the device functions and operates. The cradle for the finger is comfortable and I had no trouble getting a reading. It is accurate alongside other meters and very easy to read. It requires 2 AAA batteries, which were supplied in a sealed package. There are multiple read formats to suit most. The price is very reasonable and delivery was sooner than stated. It was packaged well and arrived in excellent condition. I would recommend this little unit to anyone who might have need for one. I am now more confident that I can assess my heart rate and blood oxygen saturation on a very regular basis.
