Note: It is not compatible with the original eufy Wi-Fi Chime (T8020), eufy Chime (T8740/T8742), or Apple HomeKit.
Is Video Doorbell C31 compatible with HomeBase 3?
Yes, it is compatible with HomeBase 3. This setup provides expandable local storage, enhanced AI functionality, cross-device features, and more.
Why is my doorbell not working properly after binding?
Ensure you have the latest app (version 5.0.22 or above) and check if the doorbell has received the latest software update.
Will Video Doorbell C31 support pre-record and 24/7 recording? Will my existing chime still work?
Yes, C31 supports pre-record and 24/7 recording functions when powered by a 16-24V transformer (bypass chime). 24/7 recording is unavailable with HB2/Minibase, so use Solo or connect it to HB3 to enable this feature.
Why does my doorbell still show low battery or a decrease in battery level even after being wired?
Using Existing Chime charges the doorbell slowly (6-7 days). High foot or vehicle traffic may still drain the battery. We recommend switching to “Bypass Existing Chime” mode.

Very Impressive Unit and Easy To Set Up
Very nice video doorbell cam. Using it right now for just an indoor cam looking out through a window until I can get it properly mounted to the outdoor wall. I upgraded so it would connect to my Homebase 3 and I like this newest model. Provides a large area of security. Very clear, even through glass window. Clear sound too. Great features, especially now that it’s hooked up to the latest Homebase. Has many more options once connected to Homebase 3.Connected with the homebase and internet quickly and was ready to use in minutes. I like that it can hold a micro SD card for storage or be connected to the home base for more FREE storage. Very happy with this purchase.

6 months in, no problems!
This is a great doorbell cam. My favorite feature is that it charges and still has a battery. And the storage is local and built in. Its tamper resistant design works great. Only slightly problem is that we get notifications in summer during sunset that it is overheating, but so far it’s working great and is always around 90% charged. It seems like it is always running on AC and just topping off the battery but I could be wrong. The battery can also help in older houses with lower power input as supplemental power.

Overall Happy, More Pluses than Minuses
I had already purchased the eufy Security S330 eufyCam 3 2-Cam Kit with Homebase 3 and decided to add the Eufy Doorbell cam as well. Honestly, there’s not a whole lot of detectable difference between the 2K doorbell camera and the 4K S330 camera’s on my IPhone. All-in-all, the video quality in both 2 and 4K is excellent. I have not mounted the S330 camera’s as of yet, they’re just sitting inside the house in different locations until I figure out where they go. Since they’re solar rechargeable, the way my house is situated makes that a bit more challenging than I figured. Anyway, this is about the doorbell camera. As I stated, the picture quality is excellent so 5 stars on that. Where I subtract a star, and maybe a second one going forward, is the fact that, although my doorbell camera is wired, the battery is discharging. I’ve had it installed for about 7 days now and I’ve gone down from 100% to 87% even though there hasn’t been that many detection events. The battery icon alternates from continuously charging to a plug icon so I know it’s wired. Plus, the mechanical doorbell is working when the doorbell button is pushed. I’m waiting to see if some kind of power management kicks in and it charges back up. The second issue for the deduction is that I was getting an error intermittently when trying to view a detection notification sent to my phone. I got an error that the video had been manually deleted or was corrupt although I had not done anything other than try to respond to the notification. Not really what you’re hoping for if a baddie is on your doorstep. After it happened the first time, I removed the device and added it back. That deserves its own paragraph. I have also gotten notifications where there is no accompanying video. In the screenshot I posted, it shows one notification with the number 1 on the bottom right but when I clicked on that, there was no accompanying video of the event. This was right after a delivery.Ok, a couple design features that suck IMO. When I got an error about corrupted video, I removed the device from HomeBase and added it back. That required that I sync the device by pressing a button on the camera. So, where is the button? On the very back of the camera which means I had to unmount the camera to access the back of it. Oh, by the way, even though it’s wired, it continues to lose charge. It will be interesting to see if the wired connection sustains it once the battery is depleted. I guess time will tell. If it does not work when the battery is depleted, I’ll have to unmount it again to recharge the battery. Why? The charging port is also not readily accessible because it’s on the back of the camera as well. The method for unmounting it is straightforward but I actually bent the key to pop it out because it was so difficult to pop the bottom out. That’s kind of a good thing, I guess, unless you have to do it often. Bottom line, it would be nice if the those were accessible without having to unmount the camera.Despite these complaints, the doorbell camera integrated flawlessly with HomeBase 3 and set-up with the app is a breeze for all of their products I purchased. I added a 1TB drive to the HomeBase and I’m confident, assuming I don’t have a recurring issue with events that are reported as deleted or corrupted, I’ll be capturing whatever security events may arise in real-time…..for free apart from the purchase price. For now, I’m very happy with my purchase. I’ll update again when I see what happens with the battery or if the event corruption becomes a recurring issue.Update: I added a third pic showing that the doorbell now indicates it’s on continuous power denoted by the plug icon replacing the charging icon. After a couple of weeks I still give it 4 stars out of 5 because it’s dropped from the wifi even though it’s not more than 10 feet from the router. When that happened the eufy help message said to check the router to see if the device was connected but, there’s no friendly name for the device on the router. It would be nice if the app, when looking at device details for each camera, would show the device’s mac address so you can distinguish it in your router’s device list. Yesterday, it did not notify or record a UPS delivery but it did record me picking up the package although no notification was sent. I have gotten them 99% of the time though and the wifi issue corrected itself. Still happy with the purchase and solid on the 4 stars.

Installatiion easy, video quality excellent, no subscription needed
Installation and setup with my existing Homebase 3 was quick and easy. Video quality is very good and the doorbell function works perfectly. Really appreciate the ability to store video on the Homebase and not having to pay for a subscription to review my own video footage.

Started out reliable, now, not so much. **Updated 11/30/2022
**Update 11/30/2022 – 13 months after purchaseYeah, big negative on this product. It only deserves a 1 star and that is being gracious. This thing has become so unreliable on detecting movement that we end up silencing/turning off notifications more than we leave them on. Sure, the ability to pull up the camera and watch it is great but not the reason anyone would buy this. It’s to catch movement in case something happens. I’ve done everything Eufy has asked me to do to try to get it to work (rearrange my porch, create custom zones on the camera, sent them data, etc) and none of it has done squat for detection accuracy and reliability.**Update – 10 months later:I’ve contact Eufy twice over this time to try and work on getting my motion detection issues figured out and resolved. After sending the data they requested and doing some troubleshooting, they decided to send me a new unit at no charge. They even let me wait to return my old one until after the new on arrived so that I wouldn’t be without some kind of camera/doorbell.I swapped the units out and, unfortunately, my motion detection issues persisted. They finally recommended that I clear out some flower pots/stands I had within view of the camera and that did help a good bit but I still get false detection’s, motion not picked up but I will say that it’s not as frequent. I’m not really happy that I have to rearrange my porch to suit the camera. I’ve since put the flower pots back where they were and am just dealing with it.I also inquired if they would ever add a wedge-like option to allow vertical tilting of the camera for people, like me, who have vinyl plank siding. (see image) They offer a 15 degree wedge to allow the camera to be tilted horizontally, which works great but nothing for the vertical angle. As a result of the camera being slightly tilted up, I can’t see the immediate area around the base of my door.Despite these issues, it is still a very decent device that is worth the price. Their support has been pretty good, which is hard to come by these days, so that does help to offset some minor shortcomings of the device.Unfortunately, I will not ever even consider any of their larger video surveillance products because everything comes in that horrid white. The doorbell comes in black, which is great, but everything else is shiny white. So until they decide to offer black in more of their product line, count me out.———–Original Review—————Purchased 11/4/2021: First installed it and it was great with the motion detection but now, it seems everything BUT actual motion from people (deliveries, guests) triggers it. So the confidence in this product is severely waning. I’ve played with the settings to tweak it but nothing is really getting close to how it was when it was first installed. So I dont know if they changed the software or what has happened to it but it’s a little disappointing.I do like the build of the product and the fact that all the recordings are contained within the device and not the cloud. They provided a 15 degree angled plate that you could mount the camera on if you wanted it to be a little more biased to one side or another. This foresight would have been great if they provided a similarly angled plate for people who have plank style aluminum siding. Because of the plank side that is angled, the camera sites tilted slightly up and just looks like a sloppy install job. I’ve considered a 3D print job from a friend but haven’t gotten around to it.I won’t buy again for my other doors that need camera surveillance and might end up swapping this one out for a different one.

Will need to see if there’s any warranty to cover this.

The doorbell camera failed following heavy rain, becoming completely unusable due to severe condensation that blurred the lens. After returning the faulty device, the customer service was appalling14 days later, I have received no refund, no replacement, and am still without a working doorbell camera, on top of that the app consistently crashing/freezing!!! The customer experience was unacceptable. Avoid this product and company at all costs!!!!!

Camera is a great add on to my eufy system. I wired into my existing doorbell wires as I wanted constant charging and to use my original chime. Installed quickly, I had plenty of wire from the original doorbell so didn’t use the Included extensions as is said not required. Camera paired to my homebase 2 quickly and added to the app no problem. When I turned the power back on, there was a constant buzzing from the original chime which also didn’t ring with the new doorbell cam, and Camera wasn’t charging. I confirmed my transformer was within the required range. I popped the Camera off and noticed the metal contact under the wire screws was very small so I’d try the wire extensions as they have a spade type attachment on the end. Hooked them up and both issues gone. Camera now constantly powered, chime isn’t buzzing and also works when doorbell is pressed. My only wish is if they had a larger wedge than 15°, there are 30-45° 3rd party wedges which I may get. I’ve had eufy products for 5 months now and I am very impressed with them, the no monthly/annual fees makes it event better!
