Nice, heavy-duty design, and good (3-4″) activation range
This is a very robust door sensor. Armored cable means it won’t be easily broken/cut.The switch detects the door part at a good standoff distance – 3-4″.The whole thing feels like it’s almost indestructible, nice and solid, well made.

Works fine, good value
This is a good heavy duty reed switch sensor. It’s normally closed (when the magnet is nearby), which is what most alarm systems need. The magnet is strong enough to work when it’s within about 1/4″ of the switch, which should be good for most installations. I noticed there are a few null spots where the switch will open even though the magnet is close, so be careful to line up the magnet and sensor so they aren’t in a null, or this switch may not work for you.Also, this sensor is obviously intended for metal roll-up doors, but the included screws are made of soft metal, which isn’t hard enough to screw into the 1/8″ holes I drilled. Fortunately, I had some better screws on hand.

Contact welds together
Using on a garage door status indicator from a 12dc power supply. After approximately 2 months of usage the contacts have welded shut giving me false garage door status. Hit the switch lightly with hammer and the contacts opened. Can’t depend on switch. Don’t buy.

Properly alerts within inches of breaking contact. Works just as described.
