Take it from an experienced Ring user – it doesn’t work
I have generation 1 bridge at my primary address and it works great. Later I added Ring to a second location and ordered the new generation 2 bridge to control lights there. It simply does not work and it forces you to use the Amazon sidewalk which is complete garbage – weak and spotty signal. Numerous calls to tech support did not resolve the problem. Why won’t lights just connect to the bridge like it used to? Don’t buy this bridge and don’t bother trying to connect lights to Ring system anymore. This is a perfect example of an upgrade ruining a perfectly good system.

Excellent with wired floodlights — setup steps are mandatory, not optional
This bridge works very well with Ring wired floodlights, but many of the negative reviews appear to come from incomplete or incorrect setup. If you’re upgrading from the 1st-generation Ring Bridge, there are mandatory steps that must be followed or the system will not function correctly.Required steps when converting from 1st-gen to newest-gen bridge:Delete the 1st-generation Ring Bridge from the Ring app first.Do this before touching the lights. The app will not transition devices correctly if the old bridge still exists.Delete each wired floodlight from the Ring app and re-add it as a new device. This is not optional.During re-setup, select Amazon Sidewalk as the connection type. This forces the required firmware update for compatibility with the newer bridge. If these steps are skipped, the lights may appear online but will not behave correctly, leading to the “doesn’t work” complaints seen in reviews.Helpful tip: before removing a floodlight from the app, screenshot the device ID from its settings page. You can use that ID during re-setup and avoid taking the fixture down or climbing a ladder to scan the QR code.Another improvement over the 1st-gen bridge: you can use more than one bridge at the same address to extend coverage. This was not possible with the original model and makes a big difference on larger properties.Once properly migrated, the system has been stable, responsive, and significantly more reliable than the original bridge. This is solid hardware — but it expects you to follow the process exactly. One last note: the built-in night light can be turned off in the Ring app

Not compatible with Ring Outdoor Smart Plugs
Not sure what Ring was thinking but 2nd Gen doesnt work with Ring Outdoor Smart Plugs, after 2 hours resetting and rebooting trying to get my plugs reconnected, I spent another hour on the phone with Ring Lighting tech support only to find out that it doesn’t work with their own plugs….

Great Addition for Wider Smart Light Coverage
The Ring Bridge (2nd Gen) is a handy upgrade for anyone using Ring smart lights or compatible devices. Setup was quick and straightforward, and once connected it extended coverage nicely so more lights stay responsive throughout the yard. The build quality feels solid and reliable, and it works smoothly with the Ring app without extra hassle. For expanding smart lighting without spots that lag or disconnect, this bridge offers good value, strong performance, and dependable functionality.

    Unusable Product
Despite carefully following instructions, was not able to get this device to stay connected. Numerous attempts to try to reconnect it were unsuccessful despite having had years of success with all of our other Ring devices. This device is a waste of time and money, I returned it.

  6. Avid Shopper

Feels like a downgrade. Inconsistent and unreliable.
Very moody and inconsistent. Compared to other smart bridges i own, this product was challenging to get working. Barely stays connected to a device 5 feet away and behind a wall. It also has a nightlight with no way to disable.

  7. mark elliott

Works great highly recommended if want to add more ring devices to your home.
Item setup was simple and easy. Has a built in nightlight on the bottom as well.

  8. Cayetano Quant

    No good upgrades.
Previous Ring Bridge works better than this one. On my experience with this device, it’s doesn’t works with smart lights or devices older than 2 years. It’s has a night light with no option to turn it off.
