Convenient Smart Remote with Minor Drawbacks
This WiFi Smart IR Remote Control is a solid device overall. The build quality feels good, and setup was straightforward. Connecting it to WiFi and getting it up and running through the app was easy, and I like being able to control my AC and other devices from my phone. The functionality is useful and convenient, especially for basic controls, and it generally works well once set up. The temperature feature is helpful, though it isn’t always perfectly accurate or as responsive as I’d expect. Occasionally, it may take an extra tap to respond, but it still gets the job done. Overall, it’s a good smart controller that offers convenience and decent performance. A few small improvements in temperature accuracy and responsiveness would make it even better, but I’m happy with it and feel it deserves 4 stars.

    Split Unit Automation
Automatically controls my Mitsubishi split A/C unit. Regulates temperature by switching modes in seasons where one day heat is required and the next cooling.

    Will not change to fahrenheit
Wish the temperature was the larger number. Will not switch to fahrenheit I tried 4 ways.

  4. Chet Sommers

    Accurate sensor
Compared this sensor’s readings to other sensors I have and it is right on par with the others. It was easy to add this to the SmartLife app. The sensor has a little button on the back under the flip out stand. This button is used to put the device in SmartLife pairing mode and also toggles the display between Celsius and Fahrenheit.I also tested the IR functionality by adding one of my wall mounted shop fans to it. My fan was not in the database so I had to manually learn the buttons from the existing remote. That went pretty smoothly. The IR function worked from about 30 feet away. I did have to point the sensor directly at the fan. If it wan’t pointed directly at the fan then the odds of it working went way down. There were also a couple of times when I hit the power button within the SmartLife app and nothing happened. I waited 5 seconds or so and hit it again and still nothing. Waited a few more seconds and tried it again and all of a sudden my fan turned on and off multiple times. It kind of seemed like the commands were not being sent to the fan and then all of a sudden all of the queued commands came through. There are a couple of design improvements that would be nice. The device is made to be standing on a flat surface. Using the flip out stand to do so means the device points slightly upward. If the device you want to control with IR is not above the sensor in the line of sight then it won’t work. The usb-c port for the sensor is on the backside of the sensor. This means the cord sticks straight out the back which makes it impossible to use double sided tape to stick it to a wall. Would be better if you had a way to wall mount this so that you could put it at the same height of the device you want to control.

IR detection very limited. No implemention of Alexa voice control for humidity.
The IR remote does not work for the light remote I have. I am not an expert on IR technology and this would have required excellent documentation for this controller and the light to avoid. The good news is I can check the room temperature with Alexa. Humidity works too, but not yet by voice. I wanted to turn off my dehumidifier when it indicated the air was dry, and I am disappointed that won’t be happening. To sum this up: Only the temperature functions are 100% implemented well. The humidity and IR functions are too limited to appreciate here.

    Works but tough to setup
Works for my pellet stove that doesnt have wifi. App is wonky though. Tough to set up

  7. Christie M.

    ok
This is a nice controller. It has a lot of functions to it and appears to be fairly accurate thus far. The display is nice, while the device is a bit thick, though. I did have a bit of a headache getting it connected and set up. If you are good with tech, it shouldn’t be too difficult. I had never used anything like this before.

  8. PFamazon

    Not worth it
The WiFi signal is so weak it has to be basically next to the modem. And it has to stay plugged in or it won’t work.
